Big Fat Sketch Post December 2007

Kirby Anime scribbles- drawn the morning after Dedede was announced for Brawl! Ahahaha!

Trying out some new eyes for the Evo gang. I dunno what to think!

That face is just awesome!

A very old character of mine gets a makeover. He made a background appearance near the end of Lost Resort, but who is he?

Deres head sketches and ANYONE can look good in Kamina's gAR glasses! Even Bottles and Mario!

Unfinished group sketch. I'm really likin Maurey's new glasses!

What you're looking at here is a panel sketch to my Chowder fancomic idea: "Roffle House". I'll keep this a mystery for now, too, but I plan to have a two-page trailer up on DeviantArse around Christmastime and the actual comic will come around Summer 2008 depending on how busy I am with other things.

Oh Grim! How i miss you!

Oh yes, "Billy Goes Shopping/Nergal Gets a Job" will be unhaitused around January 2008!

Drawing genova in different glasses has been fun this week!

Random square glasses, Truffles' glasses... Scoutmaster Lumpus' glasses are my favorites to try out! Maybe I should actually draw Scoutmaster Lumpus sometime! I've already drawn Truffles a few times!

"I'm onto you!"

Chowder and Fred Fredburger are awesome!

Oh wow!

More HiEx sketches. Mainly the hairstyles and a few things were tweaked around a bit. Bodie's not in here, though. He and Katrina have never needed appearance work (which is why Kat was barely worked on here)! how amazing is that?

Are those pills? Am I watching too much House to the point where it's influencing ideas into my stories?

Well. That's that! good night, everybody!

CHOWDER WANTS!

This was requested

Five years and still in Circly Circles!

Or close to it, anyway. I came across an old written document that described all the characters, towns, and ideas to my Evo project, and it dates back to December 2002 while the oldest artwork i could find dated to March of 2003. No worries on Chronological Details, but the project is close to five years in the making (while no progress has been completed to launch another comic). That's pretty awesome, though somewhat sad at the same time, since all I have is the pilot comic up for show.

But that's okay in the end. I hope to complete something amazing. At least amazing to me!

Anihoo, since tons of changes have been made to the stories of this series, I'm re-writing the outline document right now, under the advice of my pal Frankie/Chicobo329. I'm not reading the old one because I want to compare the two and I think some of my old ideas are stupid, anyway! All I know is that the 2002 premise of the story was FIRST about Azu being followed by a magician prince (Deres) reincarnated into a small boy, and the 2003 premise was about Azu and Prince Deres (as a teenager) being caught up in a war of magicks and the evolution of such powers. From the summer of 2005 onward, It was simplified to just follow the odd couple as Deres was sent on a scavenger hunt for spellcasting equipment (under the direction of an ex-pirate) and Azu follows him to leave the simplistic tribal life for something more. I was stumped from there for years. That's about it.

There were some ideas from the earliest incarnation that included a normal inn that attracted many NOT-NORMAL customers, a hero-wannabee that visited there, and a pie-delivery girl

Anihoo, here's some of that old 2003 artwork.

That in the lower left is the kid Deres I mentioned. People did like him a lot, so in later adaptations of my progress, I decided to throw in some childhood/flashback stories! I still plan to!

For early versions of Azu in this story, she actually WASN'T a tribal. There's actually a bit of an explanation for that which'll happen soon!
Some of you remember this guy, right
? Early Maurey sketch (formally "Mauriku" but it sounds too Japanese). Unlike Azu and Deres who underwent many changes, He today is still the same guy. A normal guy with no supernatural abilities who tinkers with small electronics. Back in the day, though, he had a tiny flying turtle mech that always followed him and done his work for him. This was based on a random scientist character I created back in 2001.

Maurey works at an inn that attracts wierdos and he delivers pies. More on him personally will come soon!

Oh boy! Azu!

The comic was started at LEAST four times before the true pilot got officialized. None of the previous story attempts made it past page 4.

Here's an attempt that had more of a major focus on the ex-pirate and his sister-assistant-who's-not-really-a-pirate in a flashback. He still has major importance to the story, and he has quite a background. In present day, he's a sorceror's apprentice. How and why, it'll come soon.

One of the last few pages I've made public. I really love the coloring style and the texture, but I could only pull it off in Painter 5 and with their lack of layers and inability to use the color picker on wet watercolors, it became too much work for me to fork out more pages all by myself.

Also, this next chapter of the comic has to bridge my old ideas from the pilot (which originally wasn't intended for the series in the first place but became a local hit) into the ideas I have for the rest of the series- and new designs.

And that's where I've been since summer. :)

Azu changed a lot over the years. But she was around before the EvoRelution project was even thought of- as an anthro bird-type thing for a Kirby Fancomic.

Her very first drawing was at an oekaki. My skills were very sad on the Oekaki. Still are.

The Azu in the old comic was much different. She was a lot more intelligent on everything there is to know- except food!

Site problems and ......... Dream

Firstly, The Rarebox, my Portfolio, and other little sites in the World 4-2verse outside of this blog have had their layouts eaten. Host Xepher.net is on a new server now, and all my PHP tags have to be edited on each of my pages to work again.

Of course, this was just something that happened to happen. I <3 my host!

Firstly, though, login issues need to be resolved. Don't expect an overnight fix, kiddies. Reguardless of how soon I get to access my files again, I have quite a bunch of files to edit! The Rarebox will come first since that's my baby! Even if I haven't made an update there myself in months!

For the dream part, two nights ago I had the darndest dream that a bunch of my characters were in a Disgaea-like Strategy RPG battle, and Meeko was dispatched as a human! While I was dreaming, I thought he was the cutest little boy in the whole entire world! I loved that design and was so proud of myself for it!

Of course, that was in my dream. I still remembered what Human*Meeko looked like when I woke up, but.... He looked exactly like four-year-old version of Rossiu from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann!

... wow!

Anihoo, I've tried these past two nights to draw him, but to no avail. I guess he was drawn in a style I could only render in my dreams! Ahahaha!

I <3 Caramel Sauce!

El Tigre got cancelled!

I only got to catch a few episodes of this, but It was a good showwww! Manny Rivera and Frida were so full of awesomesauce!

Another good nicktoon bites the dust.

Come to think of it... Whatever happened to Class of 3000? Did Lil 'D annoy the show out of existance? Did Sunny Bridges run out of song cues? I liked those song cues!

And why am I drawing so much Chowder?

I should probably post more character-obsessional stuff on this blog, but that would make me look like a dork!

In other news, I love caramel sauce!

Oh Snap!

Well, my site didn't get much of an update, but I DID spend some part of this day shuffling some files around and added six more favorites to my portfolio gallery, which was now bumped up to being W42's new main page since W42 is now here on blogspot and everything I own aside this, the portfolio, and the Rarebox is now consierably useless! Yay!

Much cleanup still has to be done, but I'll get to it. Eventually.

Did I mention how awesome that new Chowder show is? Well, yeah, I suck at drawing fat kids, but that's beside the point!

A long way goes a New Direction

Hopefully I'll stick to my word this time. After talking with Dustin of Nancy Bombs fame about our ideas last night, I gave it a lot of thought and decided I want to restart my Evo comics from scratch, therefore leaving Lost Resort as just a scrapped pilot. That thing has really left me with nowhere to expand from there.

I don't know where to start it anymore, but once i get cracking on it (I aim to start on December but no promises), it should be around 20 pages per issue and will be in black and white. This should make production less aggrivating and the final product will be a lot cheaper to print. Also, I could always color the pages in the future should I want to do a special edition- or hire someone to color the pages for me when I have money to pay them.

I'm still doubting these plans, but I'm also doubting the series as it stands now. I like it, but it's really not going anywhere and every attempt I've made at bridging it to what I want out of the series has been very unmotivating.

Thanks for your support, everybody!

And thank you, Dustin!

A general update

I scurried over to Carl Greenblatt's blog several times over after watching the premiere of his show "Chowder" (I fell in love with it so quickly it isn't funny) and afterwards, figured I should update my own.

I've drawn mostly Billy and Mandy and Crash of the Titans artworks since ... I think August or something. You'll find most of those in my DeviantArt gallery This past week I've drawn almost nothing, though. I've just picked up Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness for the PSP the morning after I've completed Final Fantasy Tactics for the same system. Strat RPGs eat souls, but most people know that already... most people who actually PLAY strategy RPGs. So that's pretty much where my life has been. I've also aquired The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations, and Tomb Raider Anniversary. I didn't get to play those yet. I wish Chowder was a video game already.

You could also tell from my DA gallery that I've been playing Crash fo the Titans, too!

But I've also taken up cooking in the last two months. I can cook a mean fettuchini alfredo! It's a kick in the mouth!

But anyway... art update? I began working some on my Evo series again. and yes, Deres gets... what... ANOTHER MAKEOVER? I swear it'll take at least another decade to get the next comic off the ground. I still wonder if I should continue from the pilot or begin a whole new story, since... well, I dunno. I'll make a profile post of him another day.

I wanna go back to my gameing.

And here's a random Diddy Kong. The hat jabs a site I go to.

Starting on the HiEx stuff again...

Highly Experimental will .... I guess I'll make a production blog of it sometime soon. Here or Livejournal (as opposed to throwing it all into my everyday foolery/personal livejournal under tags). I don't know.

Anihoo
I'm starting to wanna put up a webcomic again just to get some story ideas flowing. Lets see how that goes. For now, I'll probably chuck around some new character art to mess with the pigma graphic pen that my pal Craig gave me back at Otakon this year.

Edit: I gave in easilly and made the blog.

EvoRelution's production bits and General art stuff I'll keep here.

I'll Illustrate YOUR CS!

I get jealous of people that can use Illustrator to ink some really faboo drawings, but I'm having such a hard time learning it. It's like Photoshop has these great stroke path/pressure options that I can't find in Illustrator (CS), and they make the lines vary in width and everything. On the other hand, Illustrator has such smooth, crisp lines while Photoshop relies on poop-smeary paint brush lines.

I've searched Google and DeviantArt, and even the MFGG for tutorials, but while I've managed to handle Photoshop's pen tool okay, I really hate their poop-smeary paint brush lines, but I just can't get those nice edges and line strokes in Illustrator and the Bakaneko tutorial talks about all these brushes that aren't present in Illustrator CS.

My gods, These things make me feel like I don't know crap about computers. I need to get the social nerve to pester RageMario since he's my idol Illustrator artist.

I love a good ice chunk-filled Caramel Frappuchino!

Here's the sketch I've been trying to practice on. Done in OpenCanvas 4.

Explanations will come later. You can check out my latest fan-artting shinannigans at my DeviantArt Gallery.

And stuff and junk and stuff and Otakon!

Juggling between 3D practice, EvoRelution character mods, commission work, praying I'll make it to Rare, playing addictive games, and preparing for Otakon is.... well.... neat! A bit of work, but things aren't all bad!

My new pens came in the mail just this past friday. Prismacolor fine line. $8 for a pack of 5 at http://dickblick.com .... uh... another $7 to ship it. WHAT?

Seriously! it came in this box!

So anyway, OTAKON.
I will be there.... Again! This year!

For one, I will be sharing a table in Artist Alley with CheezyWeapon. Our table is marked on the following map below this paragraph. Secondly, I'll actually be cosplaying this year, so I'll only be wearing that traditional dirty old bucket hat and oversized denim shirt on Thursday during badge pickup. you know... the hat and shirt I wear like, every year like I'm some sort of cartoon character! I'll miss it, though. Especially since last year I started getting cosplayers! (That be my friends Joe and Angie right thar!)

But anyway, on Saturday I'll be cosplaying as Nergal Jr. from the Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, and on Sunday I'll be cosplaying Mac from Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends (mainly because I coincidentally have his outfit and should take advantage of that). The red gloves and scarf set should come in the mail soon, and the glasses are going to be custom-made by my friend Kark! It's summer up here, so I had to purchase the scarf and gloves from E-bay. 'Came with a matching red hat too so that's cool! I'll try to post pictures here before the con. Friday? I dunno. I REALLY wanted to cosplay Billy, but I just don't have the shirt for it. Maybe I'll be Nergal Jr. for both days!

Remember! I'm with CHEEEEEEZYWEAPON. Yep! I sure hope our table isn't behind a pole again. Last year it was behind a pole. And the VG Cats table. We barely got seen. D:

I'm addicted to games? Let's see... Currently I'm into....

Aegis Wing for the Xbox 360
The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy for the PS2
Crash Tag Team Racing for the PSP
Pokemon Diamond for the DS
Code Lyoko for the DS

I'm awaiting Banjo-Threeie as well as Crash of the Titans for the Xbox360.

Cammi, out!

PUPPIES!

Among some of the commissions I was given this month to draw was an AIBO, those cute little artificial intelligence dogs. First generation.

Over the weekend I began sketching some practice scribbles of first-generation AIBOs. Both the more accurate type for intelligence purposes, and a bit of a cartoonish variety as I was asked if I could draw a female one.

Needless to say, the practicing turned out more interesting than I've ever imagined!

The following pics are NOT the commission pics. Just a couple of my practice shots on OpenCanvas. Once I get a composition idea burning in me brain, I'm going to draw and ink it on 9x12" bristolboard paper.

What is this? Little Red Riding Pooch? Well, that cloak needs a hood and then we'll talk! :D

Sketches and Oekaka!

Erm, What?

Just catching up on old art though there really hasn't been anything of amazement aside from some stupid FLCL parodies best not posting.

Have you guys heard of the "Crash of the Titans" game? It's the recent Crash Bandicoot title and the characters all got some.... amazing redesigns! I never doubted anything about this game- especially since I picked up a PSP version of "Crash Tag Team Racing" with my X-box version unplayable in the Xbox 360, and remembered just how awesome Radical Games can really be!

But anyway, back in the days which i think was a chunk of last year, I was a big fanatic of Nina Cortex and when I saw her new design, I was compelled to draw it myself!

And then there's the following. Yes. The yoshies really WILL destroy us all.

Okay.

Fine, here's the FLCL parodies and ..... other.... garbage...

The first one was actually a concept piece for a series of drawings I wanted to do but never began it called "Fooly-Kazooly" (FLKzL) which combined FLCL with Banjo-Kazooie. I had everything planned out down to Banjo being run over by a randomly flung backpack and Jolly Roger posing as a high school girl. Yeah....... YEAH!

Have I ever mentioned I can't wait for "Wrath of the Spider Queen"? Like, enough times on AIM?

Don't ask. Seriously.
